Way Cool

I have the camping bug big time. As soon as the clock strikes 6.00, Armageddon out of work and hitting the road. Hopefully by 11.00 I'll be in the New Forest wearing my fisherman's jumper (which still smells of bonfires - lush!) BBQ-ing the beef burgers and halloumi cheese kebabs I prepared last night. I will share recipes for these special dishes along with photos when I'm back in the real world on Monday.

AND I've just remembered that Kirsty and I were laughing and singing this the other day:

I can't remember what made it specifically relevant and can just revel in the memories.

Lush Life

No return key = no space between photos. It lost its life during a party here around Wednesday last week. Above are the ingredients for an awesome Saturday (Borough Market and Pimms in the park). An awesome hot summer stretching out ahead, I want to be out of doors every second. In homely news I've cut out all the pieces of my dress pattern and transferred the markings to the fabric and our friend Martin is illustrating our wall.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

I made these Red Velvet cupcakes last week for a colleagues 40th Birthday. As she had a half day we decided to breakfast on cupcakes and bucks fizz. My other gal pal Gemma baked peanut butter and nutella cupcakes. Both cupcake recipes are from the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook. There is a branch round the corner from our work and occasionally we come back from lunch to find a cupcake on our desks! They do some exotic flavours like pineapple and coconut, marshmallow and pumpkin but I had wanted to make Red Velvet for a while. Apparently they acquired their name because old school Cocoa powder used to react with the buttermilk in the cake mix and turn it red. These days I just upend a bottle of red food colouring.

One of my life ambitions is to ice a cake using an icing bag. This would actually be quite easy to achieve. Thinking about taking my cupcakes to the next level.
