What we did on our holidays...

We spent two weeks in sunny Egypt where we went snorkeling, scuba diving, sunbathing and bar hopping. Sharm El Sheikh has actually only become a holiday destination in the last 20 years - before that it was just a desert. Now though it's one of the best places in the world for scuba diving and snorkeling - as soon as you put your head under the water you're completely surrounded by hundreds of huge, bright tropical fish.

On the boat, getting ready to jump in.

In the water.

I love this photo, doesn't it look like we're dancing?

We saw plenty of yellow butterfly fish, they always seem to go around in pairs, so pretty.

The coral is almost as beautiful as the fish themselves, you can't really get a sense from the photos but the colours are so bright.

We spent a day at the Ras Muhammad National Park where we travelled by boat to three different spots along the reef, then jumped straight into the Sea. It took me a minute to get used to the flippers, especially as when the boat moved away there was no where to rest your feet and catch your breath!

We also did some snorkeling on our own at the nearby Reef Beach. This reef was teaming with huge parrot fish which are coloured pink and turquoise - like mermaid barbie.

Then we spent a day learning to Scuba Dive which was so much fun - although it's scarier than snorkeling in some ways because you're so far down, you know that if you panic and have some kind of freak out you're going to die. The hardest part for me was walking down the beach to the sea wearing a wetsuit, a tank of gas and a belt made of weights in the mid day desert sun.

I had meant to say that I was going on holiday to Sharm El Sheikh for two weeks and even had ideas for scheduled posts while I was away but you know how time speeds up the closer you get to something? Anyway now I'm back! And tanned to the max.

I'm just getting back into the swing of things, getting my head back in the game and all that. I've only just worked through the laundry pile. I've got some good stories though which I'll be sharing over the coming week!
