What's Occurring?

This weekend is the weekend I could have done with immediately after last weekend when I went to see the Chemical Brothers at Wireless Festival..

This weekend we got takeaway Pizza Express and wine on Friday night, then on Saturday I made a delicious salad using the Kohlrabi which has been hanging out in the fridge for a week, unwanted and unloved. This was a huge weight of my mind - I feel responsible towards the contents of my veg box. I Didn't take a photo (I know, shame!) but here is the recipe if you want to give it a try....

For the salad:
2 Kohlrabi - peeled and sliced into thin-ish segments
1 Braeburn Apple - cored and diced
Handful of salad leaves
Handful of toasted walnuts
Some fresh shavings of Parmesan (optional but highly recommended)

For the Dressing:
Juice of half a lemon
Desert spoonful of walnut oil
Splash of olive oil
Half a teaspoon of sugar
Half a teaspoon of Dijon mustard
Pinch of celery salt, sea salt and pepper

Mix together the Kohlrabi, apple and salad leaves in a bowl. Squeeze over a bit of lemon juice to stop it going brown. Whisk together the ingredients for the dressing, pour over and mix. Arrange on plates and finish with the walnuts and Parmesan.

Last night we attended a special screening of this film inside a squatted venue on Charing Cross road. The red carpet was re-cycled from the Harry Potter premier the night before and we drank cocktails and ate ice cream made by A Taste Of Freedom who use food which would otherwise have gone to waste.

And today holds in store a Sunday roast with friends and housemates. Happy Sunday everyone!
