With just over three weeks to go until the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, plans for the London celebrations are in full swing. I'm looking forward to watching the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant in Battersea park on Sunday 3rd June. If you're in the area come on down! It looks like it's going to be a great day and will feature special Jubilee themed cakes from the Women's Institute, pop up salons from Now Voyager and The Powder Puff Girls where you can get a 1950's or 1960's makeover, vintage fashion and a good old car boot sale. Get yourself a ticket before they sell out! For more info you can check out the website here.
What could possibly top that except...a street party! On Monday 4th June my street and our neighbouring street are getting together to organise a day of revelling with bunting, bands, a big communal lunch, beers, a BBQ and games all topped off by a jubilee disco. It's hard to imagine all of this taking place in the street next to ours but everyone has been so generous with their time and property! The Battersea Mess & Music Hall are getting involved along with our local working men's club so it should be a really great day.
There will also be a super exciting Cake Competition organised by...me! Looking forward to sharing more info with you soon!
